As of Nov.1 the 2012 season has come to an end. 

    We started the year with an action packed spring Lake Trout season having many above average days, finding large numbers of big lakers making their way to the boat.
   
     As the water warmed, we transitioned into a phenomenal late June through July walleye fishing, which seemed to routinely bring above average sized fish to the box.  The fishing remained good but steadily declined through August to its end in mid September.  As the season was coming to an end we saw large numbers off of shore steelhead coming to the net.

     As for fall Steelhead fishing, the weather became a major factor with steady winds keeping lake and water conditions poor and making the fishing challenging.  On a positive note we did see a major increase in the number of Brown Trout being caught.

    I'd like to thank all of you who fished with us this year, I truly had a great time meeting and fishing with all of you.  Despite days of slow fishing or poor weather, I was always surrounded by great company.  Thank you again for a great 2012 season.

   Fished with Rick and his group, despite the nasty west wind and cold temps we ran to the western tribs.  We managed a 4.5 lb brown trout before the winds picked up and we ran for the shelter of the east side.  We worked the entire east side without moving another rod.  The lone fish came off of a Rapla J-9 in black/silver off of the boards.  I have to give the crew credit as they hung in there through big waves, cold temps, strong winds, some sea sickness and a really slow day of fishing. 

     Fished the day with Dave and his crew.  Due to a stiff W / NW wind we started the day in the bay.  With little success and only 1 smallmouth bass finding the hook we decided to fight the waves and run to the western tribs.  With large waves and muddy water we managed a lake trout and a steelhead.  Program consisted of small stickbaits and crankbaits of off the boards.

    Fished the mouths of the western tribs with Brad, Jason and Jim.  We ended up going 5 for 6 on Brown Trout losing one at the net, and 4 for 5 on Steelhead, with a few Smallmouth Bass thrown in the mix.   Brown Trout were in the 3 to 6 # range with the Steelhead on the smaller side in 5 - 8 # range.   Program consisted of Rapala J-7's and RR 500s off of the boards.  Best Colors:  Rapala - chart/white & orange/gold; RR cran crusher.  Trolling Speed: 2.6

     Both trips had to be cancelled due to high winds and waves.
